The brand Love Chin Chin originated in West Africa and create delicious 100% natural
snacks that 'crunch like biscuits, taste like a cake'. After reading that it's safe to say I was intrigued. I'm definitely a snacker. Someone who likes to eat often throughout the day. I'm not one of those people who can just eat three straight meals and thats it... hell no! So when the brand kindly offered to send* me some of the snacks to test out, it's safe to say I was excited to give them a try.
The snacks come in 4 different flavours: vanilla, cinnamon, lemon and chilli
In terms of the texture they definitely have a slight crunch like a biscuit does, however with a softer and more crumbly consistency (kind of like a slightly firmer shortbread). They come in small bitesize pieces making them easy to eat and even easier to share (if you really want to)! Upon trying the snacks they all have that same consistency and a similar flavour across the range. Non of the flavours are too strong or overpowering and while some may think of that as a negative, I think it helps to highlight the fact that there are no artificial flavours added (which is fab)!
Being someone with a sweet tooth, the vanilla flavour was most definitely my favourite. Having a very biscuity flavour that made them easy to devour without been too sweet/sickly - Dan even said they tasted like birthday cake, which I couldn't personally see myself.... but hey, anything that tastes like cake is always a good thing in my opinion.
In general, cinnamon is something I like, but in small doses. I think it's one of those flavours that can be quite subjective and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this particular flavour of the Love Chin Chin snacks. However as I mentioned previously, due to the use of 100% natural ingredients/flavours, the cinnamon taste isn't overpowering at all. It just gives the snacks a nice flavour that subtle brings through that slightly warming/spiced cinnamon taste.
Again, the lemon flavour are sweet and subtle. Whilst on first bite I couldn't really notice the lemon hint, it's something that seems to come through as you eat, leaving a sweet but slightly fresh/fruity taste in your mouth.
I was a bit apprehensive about trying the Chilli flavour, as I'm not great with spice, and as I said before, I'm definitely more of a sweet person than a savoury one. Whilst these were nice, I found them a bit strange. I don't know if it was the sensation of eating something with a shortbread texture that has a more savoury taste that confused my mind... who knows! Again, on initial bite it has a similar flavour to the other three products, however after a minute, a warm/slightly spicy sensation came through which was actually quite nice!!
I'd definitely get these snacks again as they're totally moreish. There's no way you can just open the bag and eat one or two..... it's all or nothing! Oh, and I love the bright colours/african vibes on the packing and in the company logo. It really helps show the company's roots.
If you want to try them for yourself, Love Chin Chin is available via their website and in 400+ Asda Stores across the UK.
