I Want To....

There are many things I want to learn. Things I can do in my spare time. Things I want to do for me. We can get so wrapped up in work or university or school (or whatever) and forget to allow ourselves to live. Forget to embrace the things we really want to experience.

Who knows when I’ll get to do these things (some being big and some small), but I’m hoping to slowly but surely incorporate new hobbies/passions into my life. Even spending 15 minutes doing something you enjoy is better than nothing, and I think in today’s crazy society, it’s important to take a step back and just live.

Piano

I started to teach myself to play piano (well keyboard to begin with) when I was about 14, and my love for it grew from there. Buying my piano was such a great day and I used to sit and play it every spare moment I got. However (as always) life got in the way and my piano became somewhat neglected. Now I have more free time I really want to get back to playing and learning beautiful songs, and I hope I can incorporate this passion back into my life once again.

Guitar

Similarly with piano, I taught myself guitar at a similar age and found love in playing my most loved songs and writing some of my own tunes/poetic lyrics. My guitar now sits in the corner of the room gathering dust. I need to break it out again, and continue learning/developing my skill.

Violin

There seems to be a strong musical theme flowing here.... but the violin is one instrument I've always wanted to learn! Who knows if I ever will, but I'd like to think that at some point in the coming years I can invest in lessons and perhaps one day play awesome folk music 24/7.

Photography

I've always loved photography. It's something my dad enjoyed too. I used to sit for hours looking through photographs and find there's something amazing about looking through beautifully captured moments and remembering the times associated with them. My parents bought me my first DSLR when I was 14/15 and I've since enjoyed snapping pictures when and where I can. It's just something I really enjoy, but would really love to get out more often with my camera and try to snap the beauty in the world through my little lens.

What have you always wanted to do?
