Lipstick Loves

I love lipsticks. They're the one product that you can easily pop on and instantly change any look! I don't have a huge collection of lip products (well.... not compared to some people), but I love a good range of products from a variety of brands.

This post goes to show that you don't have to break the bank to get high quality beauty products!

NYX has finally hit the UK (cheers all round!) and can now be found in Selfridges and larger boots stores. Now I do like matte look lipsticks and they're especially great in the colder months, but during the summer I personally prefer something with a bit more of a gloss/shine, as I find they far better compliment a more dewy and glowy makeup look.

This Intense Butter Gloss (£5.50) in the Tres Leches is fab as it can easily be used alone or over the top of another lip product. As you can see from the swatch above, the pigment is pretty damn intense for a gloss which I love, but it lacks that super sticky and wet look that some gloss products can have (no one likes their hair stuck to their lips)!

This product works perfectly over MAC's Modesty, so I pop it over the top if I want to make the colour that little bit more intense.

Now this Maybelline Colour Sensational (£6.99) lipstick in Honey Beige is the perfect nude/brown shade for my skin tone and I absolutely love it. The packaging of this product may not look as nice or high quality as the others in this post, but don't let that put you off as the product inside is great. It has a slight sheen when on the lips but is nothing too intense or glossy... making it the perfect everyday lipstick. Also, it fades really evenly so you can easily reapply it throughout the day without any issues.

Ok, so I think this is my favourite lip product of the moment, and I don't know how I haven't been back to Boots to buy ALL the colours! The packaging is really sleek, making it look far more expensive than the £8.99 it costs. As many beauty lovers know, Revlon is a great drugstore brand for lip products, and this Ultra HD Matte lip colour is no exception.

Now, I think the word 'matte' is quite misleading here, as I would say that while it does have that liquid lipstick vibe, it definitely doesn't dry down to what I would say is a 'true' matte lip product.... but to be honest, that's one of the reasons I love it so much. It gives a long-lasting finish without drying out your lips. This colour (Seduction) is the perfect pinky/brown tone that keeps a look looking fresh and feminine.

I've talked about MAC's Modesty (£15.50) lipstick many a time, so I'm not going to bore you too much with long rambling paragraphs about how amazing it is.... but oh my god, it really is amazing! My mom even has it now too. It comes in the Cremesheen finish, so again sits super comfortably on the lips without drying them out (can you see a pattern emerging here?). Like the Revlon colour above, its a really great pinky nude with slight brown undertones making it perfect for everyday use.

This NYX's Butter Lipstick (£5.50) has a similar sheeny finish and feel to the MAC Cremesheen collection. This colour (Root Beer Float) has a bit more oomph to it (for me anyway) with a deeper/bolder pink tone with slight purple undertones. I wear this in the day if I'm wanting to spruce up my look, but generally for me, this is more of an evening lip colour as during the day I like to keep things looking as natural as possible.

Finally we have MAC's Mehr (£15.50). This comes in their matte formula so is far more longlasting on the lips. The only thing I find with this product is that is can be quite drying, so it's not something I tend to reach for on a daily basis. Again as with the NYX butter lipstick above, this colour is far bolder, leaning towards a more vibrant pinky/purple shade, and because of that, I generally use it as more of a night out lip colour.... or for the days when I want something to brighten up my look but last well throughout the day!

Wow, that was a long post (hooray if you got this far)! Let me know your lipstick recommendations below and I'll definitely be checking them out!
