Simple Summer Pieces

In under two weeks I'll be sunning myself in Lanzarote. I'm so excited!

I haven't had a 'relax by the pool in the sun' type holiday since 2008 (yes, 2008) so it feels very much needed right now, particularly after a busy couple of months at work.

Me and my lovely mom are heading to a hotel in the island's Puerto Calero and situated near to a beautiful marina. I've never been to Lanzarote before and so I'm looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. While we plan to spend 90% of our time doing nothing, we do want to go for a little explore of the island while we have the chance.

Having not been on a beach/pool holiday for so long my wardrobe was somewhat lacking in my summer clothes and so I went on the hunt for some comfy and affordable pieces.

With the UK not being best know for its 'tropical' climate, I didn't want to splash out on my holiday items knowing I probably wont get much use out of them again for the rest of the summer. So, to Matalan I headed.

I hadn't been to Matalan for many years, but more recently I've really got back in to shopping there. Not only are their clothes affordable, but they also last well and incorporate some really lovely designs.

Firstly I got myself a couple of fabulous bikinis. I'm not really one for getting my body out - for lack of a better phrase - but if I'm going to be in the sun by a pool, a bikini was kind of a necessity.

I got a simple black set including high waisted bottoms and a balconnette style top alongside this colourful green, blue and blank 'triangl-esque' design. Love it!

Next from Matalan I got a some shorts. They are a super light and an extremely comfy/soft material making them perfect for walks around the town or slipping over my swim clothes for breakfast/lunch.

While in Matalan I also got some simple strappy vest tops and a gorgeous kaftan/cover-up which I'm so excited to wear.

To finish off my holiday shopping I grabbed some other bits and bobs from Primark; including sandals, flip-flops, sunglasses and my wonderful beach towel. I think I'm pretty much set for my holiday now (hooray)!!

Bring on the sun!
